Appoint an agent to represent your company

You can appoint a registered agent to receive documents and lodge information on your company's behalf.

Many accountancy and legal firms are registered with us as agents. Registered agents are usually members of specific Industry Associations that recognise the qualifications of these individuals and firms. Often, a registered agent will also be a Tax Agent, lodging documents on behalf of businesses and companies with the Australian Tax Office (ATO).

To appoint an agent, complete and lodge a Form 362 Notification of appointment or cessation of a registered agent by a company. This can be done online if you have registered for access. If you lodge this form in paper you must include your corporate key. The agent you appoint can also lodge the form on your behalf.

Once you have appointed an agent we will send most documents to the agent on your behalf. This includes your annual company statement and invoice.

Even if you appoint an agent to look after your company's affairs, you - not the agent - will still be held responsible for those legal obligations.

If you wish to change your agent or wish to cease being represented by an agent – lodge a new Form 362.

A registered agent must meet certain registration criteria and our expectations of agent conduct to maintain registration.
