SMSF auditors - supporting documents

When you submit an application for registration as an approved SMSF auditor you will need to simultaneously email supporting documents to SMSFauditor.registration@asic.gov.au. In the subject line of the email include:

  • your application reference number
  • your name, and
  • the type of transaction (for example, SMSF auditor registration application).

Application checklist

When preparing your application, download a checklist of items to check and documents you will need to send us as part of your application for registration as an approved SMSF auditor.

Professional indemnity insurance statement

You must send us a completed copy of the Professional indemnity insurance statement. Fill it out, sign it, then scan and email it to us at SMSFauditor.registration@asic.gov.au with your other supporting documents.

You may need advice from your insurer or insurance broker to answer the question in the statement.

Certificate of currency - professional indemnity insurance

You also need to provide a certificate of currency for the professional indemnity insurance policy under which you are covered.

A certificate of currency that refers to an entity other than yourself or your employer as the insured will result in us seeking further information as to who the policy covers.

See Regulatory Guide 243: Registration of self-managed superannuation fund auditors (RG 243) for more information about the professional indemnity insurance requirements.

We are always looking to improve our information for SMSF auditors so we would like to know what's important to you. Please leave us some feedback.
