Mortgage Data Pilot

ASIC invites mortgage lenders to contact us to learn more about the recurrent mortgage  data pilot (including to register your organisation’s interest in participating). Correspondence should be directed to

The recurrent data collection mortgage pilot seeks to identify trends and systemic practices in Australia’s home lending market, which have the potential to cause significant consumer detriment.

ASIC will achieve this by collecting granular loan-level information on mortgages held by organisations involved in the pilot.

The objectives of this recurrent data collection are to provide ASIC with:

  • A greater understanding of the mortgage market;
  • An ability to identify risk of poor consumer outcomes;
  • An ability to identify areas of risk for further regulatory work, particularly to improve the targeting of our resources; and
  • Data to enrich other egulatory activities, including the development of guidance and policy.

The data will be used to facilitate the evolution of ASIC’s regulatory work within home lending. The pilot is expected to contribute to the development of additional proactive regulatory practices. ASIC will explore the development of powerful analytics-driven dashboards that will become key tools in regulatory decision making.
