Mr Jeffrey Lucy, Chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), today announced the appointment of Ms Jennifer O’Donnell as Executive Director of Compliance.
Ms O’Donnell has responsibility for ASIC’s surveillance and campaign activity, including financial services regulatory compliance, financial reporting and corporate disclosure.
Ms O’Donnell’s appointment follows the appointment of Mr Ian Johnston to a senior position at the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.
‘The Commission has taken this opportunity to rearrange its activities on functional rather than industry lines. This will help achieve best practice outcomes in all of its regulatory and compliance activities’, said Mr Lucy.
Mr Malcolm Rodgers, Executive Director of Regulation, has responsibility for financial services licensing, policy, markets, corporate finance, and research and analysis.
‘Jennifer brings outstanding skills, broad experience and an intimate knowledge of ASIC to her new role. We are extremely fortunate to have someone of the calibre of Jennifer to take on this important function’, Mr Lucy said.
Ms O’Donnell is ASIC’s New South Wales Regional Commissioner and was previously a Deputy Executive Director at ASIC. She joined the then Australian Securities Commission in 1991 and, prior to that, worked at the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal (now the Australian Broadcasting Authority).
