The Chairman of ASIC, Mr Tony D’Aloisio, today confirmed the appointment of Ms Maree Blake as Queensland Regional Commissioner.
The regional commissioner plays a vital role in ensuring ASIC gathers information locally on developments and issues in the region while continuing to liaise with ASIC’s external stakeholders and State and Territory governments.
Maree joined ASIC in October 2005 and most recently held the position of Director, Corporations and Insolvency within the agency’s former enforcement directorate where she was responsible for corporate governance, insolvency and auditor and liquidator matters.
Prior to ASIC, Maree worked in the private sector where she specialised in corporate restructuring, insolvency and related management advisory areas and was a partner with specialist accounting firms, Sims Partners Chartered Accountants and PPB Chartered Accountants.
Maree is undertaking Masters of Management studies and has completed a postgraduate certificate with a major in leadership. She is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GMAICD).
She replaces former Queensland Regional Commissioner, Mr Greg Tanzer, who left ASIC to take up a position with the International Organisation for Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
