The Chairman of ASIC, Mr Tony D’Aloisio, today announced the appointment of Mr Warren Day as Victorian Regional Commissioner.
The regional commissioner plays a vital role in ensuring ASIC gathers information locally on developments and issues in the region while continuing to liaise with ASIC’s external stakeholders and State and Territory governments.
Warren joined ASIC in November 2003 as a senior lawyer in enforcement and, from March 2007, was Specialist Director, Investor and Consumer Protection. During this time, he led investigations relating to consumer protection and unlicensed and illegal conduct, including more recently Firepower and Chartwell.
Before joining ASIC, Warren worked as a solicitor at Clayton Utz and as an auditor and analyst at the Australian Taxation Office.
The role of regional commissioner will help ASIC balance its national focus while taking into account the issues that impact on the local community. The Commission sees the position in each state and territory as playing an integral role in pursuing this balance.
