The Chairman of ASIC, Mr Tony D’Aloisio, today confirmed the appointment of Dr Pamela Hanrahan as Regional Commissioner for Queensland. ‘ASIC’s regional commissioners play a vital role in ensuring ASIC understands developments and issues in their region and in engaging with ASIC’s external stakeholders and the State and Territory governments.Pamela’s appointment in Queensland continues the tradition of appointing someone to the role with outstanding credentials. It underlines ASIC’s strong commitment to its regional role and focus’, Mr D’Aloisio said.
Pamela joined ASIC in November 2008 as Senior Executive Leader, Investment Managers, with responsibility for regulation of Australia’s managed investments sector.
Prior to ASIC, Pamela was Deputy Director of the Centre for Corporate Law and Securities Regulation at the University of Melbourne and, before that, a senior lawyer in private practice with Allens Arthur Robinson. She is an Associate Professor of Law at Melbourne Law School and author of a number of books on company law, securities regulation and financial services law.
Pamela holds honours degrees in arts and law from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Laws from Case Western Reserve University in the United States, and a doctorate in law from Melbourne. She is also a member of the Corporations Committee of the Law Council of Australia.
Pamela succeeds Maree Blake, who has been Queensland Regional Commissioner since 2008.
