ASIC Chairman Tony D’Aloisio today welcomed the appointment of Ms Belinda Gibson as ASIC Deputy Chairman and Mr Shane Tregillis as a new Commissioner.

‘Belinda Gibson and Shane Tregillis both have long experience in corporate regulation and securities and will ensure the Commission has the depth and the background to deal with our increasing responsibilities, including market supervision and consumer credit,’ Mr D’Aloisio said.

‘I welcome Mr Tregillis back to ASIC and congratulate both people on their appointment.’

Ms Gibson joined ASIC as a Commissioner in 2007 with responsibility for corporate governance and capital markets.

Mr Tregillis was the Deputy Managing Director of Market Conduct at the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He was a member of ASIC’s national executive between 1995 and 2001.

Ms Gibson takes up her new role from today. Mr Tregillis takes up his position on 17 May 2010 and will be based in Melbourne.
