West Australian web entrepreneur guilty of breaching directors’ duties

A West Australian director has been convicted of breaching his directors’ duties.

Following an eight day trial in the Perth District Court, Oliver James Wood was convicted on three counts of using his position as a director of SEO Company Pty Ltd dishonestly to gain an advantage.

Mr Wood’s conduct included withdrawing more than $29,000 from the company’s bank account for his personal use.

The jury’s verdict followed an ASIC investigation that also saw Mr Wood plead guilty to four counts of making a false statement in a document lodged with ASIC.

Mr Wood, who is on bail, will be sentenced on the seven charges on 15 October 2015.

The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions prosecuted the matter.
