The Queensland Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal by Bradley Keith Silver, former Gold Coast director and property developer, against the severity of his sentence for dishonesty offences totalling over $4.7 million.
On 6 September 2019, Mr Silver was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to charges relating to his involvement in investment schemes operated by Capital Growth International Club Pty Ltd and All About Property Pty Ltd (19-243MR).
On 12 May 2020, the Court of Appeal delivered its judgment confirming that Mr Silver’s eight-year sentence was not manifestly excessive. The Court of Appeal ordered that Mr Silver be released on a recognizance of $2,000 after serving two and a half years’ imprisonment, in lieu of the non-parole period of two and a half years imposed by the sentencing judge. The period of imprisonment to be served by Mr Silver of two and a half years remains unchanged.
The matter was prosecuted by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.
