ASIC to launch new Professional Registers Search

Published

Key points

  • ASIC’s new Professional Registers Search (PRS) will launch in late June 2024. The register provides an improved search functionality, now allowing users to search for a licence or registration across multiple register databases using just one search.
  • The new site enables users with the ability to filter search results to see more specific information, such as finding a licence or registration in their home state or territory.

ASIC is launching a new streamlined Professional Registers Search (PRS). Releasing in late June 2024, the PRS allows users to review and search all of the professional registers databases with just one search.

The new PRS provides a more intuitive experience for users, making it easier to access information and make sure the person or company you are dealing with is licensed.

The search has been designed with a ‘user-first’ approach, making it easier for anyone to find the information they need themselves.

User experience feedback will be collected through a survey tool on the homepage. This feedback will be used to inform continuous improvements to the search.

What’s changing and when

The first release of the Professional Registers Search is scheduled for late June 2024. The following ASIC Connect registers are moving across to the PRS:

  • Australian Financial Services (AFS) licensees,
  • AFS authorised representatives,
  • credit licensees,
  • credit representatives,
  • official liquidators,
  • registered auditors (registered company auditors and authorised audit companies),
  • registered liquidators,
  • registered managed investment schemes, and
  • approved self-managed super funds (SMSF) auditors.

Other search registers on ASIC Connect will not be impacted by the changes, including searching for company and business names.

A second update of the PRS is scheduled for late 2024, when all professional register extracts and documents will be made available.
