ASIC and small business

Small Business In Australia

ASIC engages, assists and helps protect small businesses to ensure a strong and healthy economy for all Australians. Small businesses are a key driver of the Australian economy.

Running a small business: resources in different languages

ASIC is committed to diversity and inclusivity where all people, stakeholders and communities are treated with fairness and respect.

As part of our work to meet the needs of all small businesses, ASIC's Running a Small Business in Australia – What you need to know resource is now available in English, Arabic, Simplified Chinese and Vietnamese. The booklet can also be ordered from ASIC's Moneysmart publications page.

ASIC Senior Executive Leader for Small Business Engagement and Compliance Diana Steicke said, 'ASIC is committed to meeting the needs of small business operators, regardless of culture and language. We facilitate and encourage equity, and ASIC will continue to make information accessible for all Australians.'

Other resources and support

ASIC's small business page has additional information on starting, running or closing a small business, how to protect your small business and resources for Indigenous corporations.

ASIC's Moneysmart self-employment page also provides tools and resources. You can also download the first business app that includes a business health check and checklist, case studies of things that can go wrong and how to avoid them, and a networking section.
