In some circumstances, you can choose an alternative registration period for your business name. You may want to do this if you have multiple business names or want to align your business name renewal to your company annual review.

How to request an alternative registration period for a business name
To request an alternative registration period, you will need to complete a paper form.
You can complete the form onscreen and email it to BN.lodgements@asic.gov.au

If you request a shorter period than 1 or 3 years, you will not be refunded for the forfeited time.
How to determine your alternative registration period
Your alternative registration period must be no more than six months after the end date of your registration period. For example, if your current registration is:
- One year long - your new registration must not be more than 18 months from the end date
- Three years long - your new registration must not be more than three years and six months from the end date of the current registration period.
There is no additional fee for requesting an alternative registration period end date. If you request a shorter period than one or three years, you will not be refunded for the forfeited time.
