About this register

The business names register is a searchable database of registered business names, and the people or organisations that hold them. These people and organisations are called business name holders.

Anyone can search the register to find out more about a business name.

If you want to search for a trading name, use the Australian business register’s ABN Lookup service. Trading names are not registered business names and do not appear on the business names register.

If you’d like to register a business name, see our page Register a business name.
