Change shareholder name and address
If the name or address details of any shareholders in a proprietary company change, the company must tell us within 28 days. You can do this on the company officeholder portal. Shareholders can also be called members.
Public companies do not need to tell us about these changes, but they do need to maintain and update a register of their shareholders.

To make changes to members (shareholders) online, you need to be signed up for online access. Find out how to do this:
Steps to change shareholder name and address
Start transaction
- Select the ‘Start new form’ option from the menu.
- Select ‘Form 484 – Change to Company Details’ from the list of options.
- Select ‘Change to members register’ from the list.
Make the changes
- Enter the new details.
- When you finish making the changes, select the ‘Next’ button.
Review and confirm
- You can review or undo the address change if you need to.
- Select the ‘Notify another address change’ link if you need to update another address.
- Select the ‘Next’ button when all changes have been made.
Declare and submit
- Read the declaration to make sure you agree with it. If you do, select the ‘Yes’ button.
- Select the ‘Submit’ button to submit the form.
- You’ll get a message that confirms your request has been submitted.
- Select ‘Document acknowledgement’ if you want to download a PDF version of the documents. You can print or save the PDF for your records.
