Request review of ASIC business names decision

If we have made a decision that you do not agree with—you have the right to request a review for this decision.

Before you can go ahead with the request, you should first check to ensure the following criteria will apply:

  • the decision qualifies as a reviewable decision by ASIC
  • you are an 'entity' that is able to request the review, and
  • you are within the timeframes to request a review.

How to lodge a request for a review of decision

Go to ASIC Connect and log in to your account When you log in for the first time, you will be prompted to add any existing business names to your account.

If you do not have a registered business name select No and proceed to step 2.

Select the Lodgements & Notifications tab This will display a list of possible transactions.

Go to Other notifications at the bottom of the page and select Show. Then select the other notifications button. This will take you to the Other notifications screen

Select Business name as a business type and then Request a review of an ASIC decision notification This will return the relevant page for updating.

Enter your details and select Next to continue In your request, you will need to identify the type of reviewable decision you are requesting to be reviewed and whether you are an entity that is able to request a review.
You must also set out the reasons for making the application.
Please note: There is a 250 character maximum.

Review your transaction Check that the information displayed is correct.

Make declarations Read the declaration to ensure you agree with the conditions of the transaction.

Confirmation This will confirm your transaction has been submitted with ASIC.

Once you submit your request, we will investigate and respond within 28 days. As part of this process, we may contact you for further evidence to support the review.
