Ask ASIC to correct business name details

If some of the details of your registered business name are incorrect, you can apply to ASIC to correct them.

Before you start

You can only apply to correct the details linked to a registered business name if it contains minor errors. If you want a different business name, you need to register a new one.

You can ask us to correct details linked to your business name register if:

there is a typographical mistake
the place or date of birth of a business name holder is incorrect.

You may need to provide evidence such as a copy of a driver’s licence or passport after you submit your request.

To use ASIC Connect

You will need to sign up for an ASIC Connect account and have your business name linked if you haven’t already. Find out how to do this:

Steps to ask us to correct business name details

Log in to your account

Start transaction

Select the ‘Lodgements and notifications’ tab.
Select the business name you want to correct.
Select ‘Other notifications’ and then select ‘Go’
Select ‘Business name’ as the business type.
Select ‘Request to correct registry details’.
Change this heading

Make the correction and submit

Enter your request for correction and submit the corrected details.
