Video transcript - How to update your business name address

ASIC Connect makes it easy to update your business address.

You can update multiple addresses, including your address for service of documents, principal place of business or practice, your email address and even your mobile number.

It’s a requirement by law that you keep you addresses up-to-date, so that you can receive correspondence from ASIC.

To get started, first you will need to visit our website at www.asic.gov.au. In the top right-hand corner of the page you will see the ASIC Connect box. Simply select Log in > Sign up to go to the ASIC Connect part of the website.

You are now at the ASIC Connect Welcome page. In the Blue ASIC Connect box, you can login with a user name and password, sign up or enter an AUSkey to log in. If you don't yet have an account, select Sign up and follow the prompts. You can also refer to our user guide How to sign up for an ASIC Connect account for guidance.

In this tutorial we are going to assume you already have an ASIC Connect account. Select the Login button to access the login page then enter your user name and password to log in.

In order to update your business address through ASIC Connect, your business must be linked to your account.

If you haven’t already linked your business to your account, it’s a simple process. Under the Do It Now menu on the right-hand side of the page, select Link a business/Request ASIC key and follow the prompts. You can work through the How to link a business to your ASIC Connect account tutorial for guidance.

To change your business address, you first need to select the Lodgements and Notifications tab from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

On the next page, you’ll see a list of the businesses that are linked to your account. Select the business you’d like to update. In the transactions column, you can then use the drop-down to select Change business address. To continue, select Go.

Next you’ll see a list of all addresses relating to the business you selected. Select Edit next to the address you would like to update. At this point, a new box will appear where you will need to:

  • Select Clear address to quickly clear all details.
  • Enter an effective date for the change.
  • If the address has previously been notified to ASIC, it may appear in the Known addresses drop-down. If so, you can select it.
  • If the new address is not already linked to your account, select Street Address or Postal Address as the address type.
  • Enter the new address details.

When you’re finished, select Save Address and then select Next to continue.

After selecting Next, a pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm your address. If you need to return to the address page, you can select Cancel or Close.

If the correct address is listed, select the appropriate radio button and then select Confirm to proceed with the update.

When you return to the address page, the new address will be highlighted. Check that the information displayed is correct. If not, you can select Edit to repeat the process. If the information is correct, you can select Next to continue.

At this point, you‘ll have the opportunity to review the details again before you select Submit to finalise the change.

Before confirmation can be provided, you’ll need to declare your agreement with the conditions of the transaction.

Read the declaration carefully and, if you agree, tick the boxes to confirm your agreement. Under Authority, select the relevant option.

When you’re done, select the Next button to finalise the transaction.

Once you’ve declared your agreement with the conditions of the transaction, you’ll be taken to a final confirmation screen. Here you can:

  • Select Print the transaction to download a printable PDF version of the transaction
  • Select one of the links under What else can I do? for more information about other services or
  • Select Home to return to the ASIC Connect Home page.

You should now know the basic steps involved in changing your business address.
