What we do

ASIC is Australia's integrated corporate, markets, financial services and consumer credit regulator.

Our vision is to allow markets to fund the economy and, in turn, economic growth.

In doing so, we contribute to the financial wellbeing of all Australians. We do this by:

1. promoting investor and consumer trust and confidence

2. ensuring fair and efficient markets

3. providing efficient registration services.

We are an independent Commonwealth Government body. We are set up under and administer the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (ASIC Act), and we carry out most of our work under the Corporations Act.
