What we do

ASIC is Australia's integrated corporate, markets, financial services and consumer credit regulator.

ASIC is an independent Australian Government body. We are set up under and administer the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (ASIC Act), and we carry out most of our work under the Corporations Act.

Our structure

Under the ASIC Act, the Commission, comprising three to eight members, is responsible for the management and administration of ASIC.

Our organisational structure reflects ASIC’s regulatory and registry responsibilities and operational requirements.

Internal governance responsibilities, direction and delegations are shared across the Commission and various Committees.

Engagement with external stakeholders through panels ensures regular ongoing consultation across the financial services industry.
