How to lodge returns (including nil returns)

• Companies with unclaimed money/property

Although unclaimed money is provided to ASIC, some institutions remain the first point of contact for consumers wanting to claim those funds. Once satisfied that the consumer is entitled to the unclaimed money, the institution will make a claim to ASIC on behalf of the entitled person for the return of those funds.

Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) would like to inform the public that it will cease the publication of unclaimed money reports in excel spreadsheet format. This measure is being implemented to reduce the risk of unwanted contact and fraudulent claims.

Despite the cessation of these reports, the public can still access information about unclaimed money through the  Moneysmart website. The website provides a secure and user-friendly search functionality that allows individuals to find out if they have any unclaimed money. This online tool ensures that the information remains accessible while enhancing the security and privacy of personal data.
