Earlier this year the Federal Government said it would undertake a competitive tender process to assess capacity of a private operator to upgrade and operate ASIC's registry business ('Response warranted’, The Latrobe Valley Express, 4 June 2015). The competitive tender process will be undertaken over the next 12 to 18 months, with necessary legislative and regulatory changes occurring in parallel.

ASIC has a strong history in Traralgon and is a strong contributor to the local community. We are proud of the work our staff achieves and delivers every day to the more than 2 million companies and 2 million business name holders across Australia.

We are assisting the Federal Government with comprehensive information during the tender process which is being led by the Department of Finance in consultation with the Treasury, and consulting with staff on developments as they unfold.

ASIC is committed to continuing to deliver efficient and accessible registry services for the people of Australia.

Greg Tanzer

Commissioner, ASIC
