Superannuation Trustee Governance

There has been some reporting on ASIC's confidential submission to the Senate Economics Legislation Committee on the Superannuation Legislation Amendment (Trustee Governance) Bill 2015.

In response to a request from the Committee, ASIC provided factual information relating to the operation of the Corporations Act. ASIC did not comment directly on the Bill.

While ASIC has a broad regulatory mandate with respect to Australian financial services providers and public companies, we do not have a specific regulatory role with respect to the governance of Australian superannuation funds. That role is performed by the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA).
