What we do

ASIC is Australia's integrated corporate, markets, financial services and consumer credit regulator.

ASIC is an independent Australian Government body. We are set up under and administer the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (ASIC Act), and we carry out most of our work under the Corporations Act.

Foreign businesses and individuals: information and how to contact ASIC

If you are a foreign business or private citizen and would like general information about Australian corporate, market or financial services regulation and/or ASIC's role, please refer to the following:

International businesses may also be interested in subscribing to the ASIC Digest and related products that contain comprehensive information about ASIC's policies and activities, and complying with – and obtaining relief from – the Australian Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).

Note that while ASIC exchanges information with foreign regulators, ASIC does not provide letters of support in relation to your dealings with foreign regulators.

You may wish to consider the information provided by other regulators and organisations in Australia and whether or not your inquiry falls within their areas of responsibility.

You can contact ASIC online, by phone, in writing, or in person
