You can search the New Zealand Companies Register website for free information on companies registered to do business in New Zealand.

You can search for a company by name. Each search result includes basic details of a company:

Company directors

You can search for a company director by name. Each search result includes:

full name
address
appointment dates
director status - current or former director

Banned directors

You can search for information about disqualified directors. Each search result includes:

any former names
last known address
disqualification period
reason for disqualification

Shareholders

You can search for shareholders by both individual or company name. Each search result includes:

full name of the shareholder
address
shareholder status - current or former shareholder
number or percentage of shares held

Each search result includes:

country of incorporation

principal place of business in New Zealand

Registered security interests

While searching a company’s details, you have the option of searching the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR). This can help you find out about any secured debts a company has. A fee applies to each PPSR search. For more information, visit the NZCO website.

Searching using the NZAUConnect App

The NZAU Connect app is a joint initiative of the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) and the New Zealand Companies Office (NZCO). It brings together records from ASIC's companies register, NZCO's companies register, and ASIC's Business Names Register.

Through NZAUConnect, you can use your device to check a business' registration status, registration number and principal place of business. NZAUConnect also allows you to save your most common searches, and share search results by email.
