What we do

ASIC is Australia's integrated corporate, markets, financial services and consumer credit regulator.

ASIC is an independent Australian Government body. We are set up under and administer the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (ASIC Act), and we carry out most of our work under the Corporations Act.

Data strategy

ASIC’s data vision is to fully harness our data assets and analytics capabilities, empowering our people to put data into action and enabling data-informed regulatory decisions.

We continue to invest in technology to become a leading digitally enabled and data-informed regulator. We use data to more quickly and effectively identify harms in our regulatory environment, support evidence based decision making and drive more efficient, proportionate and targeted regulation.

Our Data Strategy 2021–26 continues to transform the way we work and help us realise our vision for a fair, strong and efficient financial system for all Australians.
