Updating your details and submitting requests to ASIC

You can change your registration details through the ASIC Regulatory Portal.

You must use the portal to update your registration details (for example, the name or address of your principal place of practice, update the capacity in which you practise as an SMSF auditor).

You must tell us of changes to your details within 21 days after the change. No fee is payable for updating your details.

You can also use the portal to:

  • apply for an extension of time to lodge an annual statement apply to vary the conditions of your registration,
  • apply to vary the suspension of your registration, or
  • request to cancel your registration.

Accessing the ASIC Regulatory Portal

If you have not previously transacted through the portal, you will need to register a portal account at https://regulatoryportal.asic.gov.au/.

To register you will need to give your name, date of birth, email address and mobile number so we can identify the user of the account. Your email address will serve as your username. We will then send you an email asking you to confirm your email address and directing you to set your password for the portal.

Once you have created and confirmed your password we will direct you to the log in page. You can then enter your username (email) and password to access the portal.

Inviting someone to act on your behalf in the ASIC Regulatory Portal

You may authorise another person to act on your behalf through the portal.

Only a portal user with Senior administrator or Administrator Access level for an entity (this could be an organisation structure like a company, a business, a partnership or a trust, or an individual (or ‘natural person’)) can invite other users to connect to that entity.

To invite a user, make sure you are viewing the entity you want to invite the user to connect to.

  1. Select 'Administration' in the top navigation bar.
  2. Select the 'Users' tab.
  3. Select the 'Invite new user to entity' button.
  4. enter the invitee's details – name, email address etc. You will also need to declare that you understand the access you are giving the invitee.
  5. Select 'Confirm'.

This will send the invitee an email, including an invitation key that they can use to register or connect to the entity if they have an existing portal account.
